We're always on the hunt for the next best thing; always yearning for the newest, the latest and greatest or the most up to date. And no matter how much "stuff" we have, we're never really satisfied. I found this in myself at the age of 27. I had too many clothes, too many skateboard decks, too many shoes, and as a photographer/videographer, I realized I had so many lenses and camera bodies that just sat around collecting dust. They were in the way, they were obsolete, but at one point in time, they were everything to me. And you honestly forget that until you go and sell everything you own.
What if I told you to start over? What if I told you to sell all your equipment, and be uncomfortable in what you know? You would probably panic. I know I did. I sold everything I owned to move to Texas, live a more minimalistic life, and focus on enjoying the one life I have. I had no camera for a few months, and now the only camera I currently own is a GoPro. And every adventure I've been on since has been more of an experience than a production.
So, come with me on this journey to take control of my life. I hope to create and adventure with as little as possible and share my adventures in the most elaborate ways. I hope you can find some way to apply this to yourself and I can't wait to hear your stories.
A lifestyle is just your way of life. It can be something you fit in with or associate with or something you create. Whatever your lifestyle, live it for yourself and don't let anyone else tell you different.
By creating a focus in your life, you gain sight of what matters. What do you need? What will give you value? What's in your way? Live with less. Do more. Create limited. Be unlimited.
Don't disregard your own backyard. Adventure is everywhere, but you must seek it out. Find the thrill and the beauty wherever you may be.
Write down those ideas you have. Take that photo you envision. Draw that image you've had in your head. A huge part of being creative is just doing. Get out there and make what you want, how you want to make it.
Make decisions without second guessing. Only you know what's right for you. Let your confidence guide you through the uncomfortable times and choose who you want to be.
